Lake Lawn Resort is whetting appetites with a weekend dedicated completely to wine and food enthusiasts during their first-ever Wine and Food Festival, Sept. 5 – 7, 2014. With a Friday night wine dinner featuring guest sommeliers, a wine and food vendor showcase on Saturday, bountiful buffets and a sunset dessert cruise, Lake Lawn has a menu of events to satisfy any craving. A portion of the proceeds from the weekend festivities will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Walworth County.
The excitement begins Friday evening with the Beat the Wine Gurus Wine Dinner from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy an inventive menu crafted by Lake Lawn’s award-winning Director of Culinary Operations and Executive Chef David Ross. During the dinner, guests will be tasked to find wines to accompany menu items, competing with expert sommeliers to determine the best pairings. Tickets for the Beat the Wine Gurus Wine Dinner are $65 per person.
Headlining the weekend lineup is The Great Taste from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The showcase will feature samples of over 125 domestic and international wines and champagnes, including labels from France, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Italy, California, and Washington, as well as local grapes from right here in Wisconsin. Sample of name brands such as Duckhor, Terlato, Grgich Hills, Rodney Strong, and Kenwood. Top area restaurants will provide complimentary bites throughout the day, plus a “farm fresh to table” marketplace. A one hour, expert-led, wine seminar will offer insights into production and pairing processes from 4 to 5 p.m. All of this plus live entertainment, a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the Walworth County Boys & Girls Club, a goody bag, and a commemorative wine glass are included. Tickets for The Great Taste are $80 per person, available only to those 21 or older. Upgrade to a $115 VIP ticket and get early access to the Wine & Food Festival and enjoy select premier wine and champagne tastings in the special VIP section.
Also on Saturday will be a bustling marketplace in Lake Lawn’s center courtyard from noon to 5 p.m., featuring locally grown produce, grass-fed meats, artisan cheeses and much more. While perusing goods, market-goers will enjoy continuous live musical entertainment. The marketplace is free and open to the public.
Lake Lawn is offering inclusive Wine & Food Festival stay packages so connoisseurs can take full advantage of the festivities. Packages start at $649 for two nights, plus resort fee and taxes, and include admission to the Beat the Wine Gurus Wine Dinner and The Great Taste for two adults. Package guests will be able to round out the weekend of fine food and drink with a sunset dessert cruise around Delavan Lake on Saturday evening, and a Sunday Champagne Brunch featuring all the breakfast essentials and hearty lunch fixings.
