Old Time Radio Holiday Show
It’s time for our big Christmas radio show! And it’ll be a big one:
During the World War II, there was a place called the Stage Door Canteen. There, whatever performer was available, no matter what they performed, they would go to the Canteen and put on a show for the troops waiting to leave for Europe. There was no theme or type of performance, the idea was to entertain the troops.
We have booked The Dixie Dudes, Bill’s Little Big Band, The Riverport Chorus Sweet Adelines, and Steve Brown on vocals. We’ll have skits long and short in between. It’ll be a great show! Be part of the studio audience!
The popular live radio shows broadcast on station WGTD of Kenosha will be broadcast live from Lake Lawn Resort again this year. The shows mimic the old time radio shows of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s complete with actors and sound effects. All are done in real time before a live audience. All three shows this fall have a World War 2 theme – The Kane Shadow will be about how the then-owner of Lake Lawn sponsored Japanese-Americans out of the internment camps and gave them jobs at the resort.
The show will be performed in our historical Great Room near the Lookout Bar & Eatery, and will go on-air live at 11:00 am. Doors open at 10:00 am, so come early to watch the performers rehearse!
