On Wednesday, July 1, Lake Lawn Resort hosts the Folds of Honor Golf Tournament at Majestic Oaks Golf Course. Spots are still available; here is what you need to know before they aren’t.
Why This One Matters
Folds of Honor does a single, specific thing: it provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen and disabled U.S. service members and first responders. Since 2007, the organization has awarded more than 73,000 scholarships; 91 cents of every dollar it spends goes directly to that mission. That is not a marketing claim, but rather an audited figure from a Platinum-rated nonprofit.
This tournament is part of the City of Delavan’s Celebrating America’s 250th lineup of events. Not every round of golf means something; this one does.
What the Day Looks Like
Arrive at Majestic Oaks Golf Course between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. for continental breakfast and check-in. At 9:30, General Manager Lynn Ketterhagen and Folds of Honor representative Brad Bateman offer welcome remarks before American Legion Post 95 presents the Colors and the Delavan-Darien High School Choir performs the National Anthem. The shotgun start is at 10:00 a.m.
The format is an 18-hole scramble, with on-course beverages and sponsor sip stations running throughout the round. At 11:00 a.m., an All-American lunch (burgers, brats, hotdogs) opens at the Clubhouse. Around 2:00 p.m., the prizes get handed out, the cash bar opens fully, and the rest of the afternoon belongs to whoever wants it.
Prizes Worth Playing For
The winning foursome takes home golf for two with cart, a Majestic Oaks hat, and a sleeve of balls per player. On-course contests run throughout the round:
- Longest Putt: $50 Lake Lawn Resort gift card and a mini traffic cone that says “Long Putt Zone”
- Longest Drive on Hole #5 (separate competitions for men and women): $50 LLR gift card and a Toy Telescope
- Hole-in-One / Closest to Pin on Hole #2: Prize TBA (confirm before publish)
- Most Patriotically Dressed Player: Dinner for two at 1878 on the Lake
A silent auction and raffle round out the afternoon, with guest author books, Folds of Honor merchandise, and Lake Lawn swag all in play.
