If you’ve been meaning to sign up for the Folds of Honor Golf Tournament, tomorrow is the last day to do it online. Here is the day, start to finish.

What You’re Registering For

This is an 18-hole charity scramble at Majestic Oaks Golf Course, hosted by Lake Lawn Resort as part of the City of Delavan’s America’s 250th celebration. Every registration includes a direct contribution to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit that has awarded more than 73,000 educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled U.S. service members and first responders since 2007. Ninety-one percent of what they raise goes straight to the scholarship program. (The other nine percent keeps the lights on.)

That context matters. This is not a tournament with a charity component. It is a direct benefit event that happens to involve golf.

The Day, Hour by Hour

Morning

Arrive anytime between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. for continental breakfast and check-in at the Majestic Oaks Clubhouse. At the first tee, American Legion Post 95 presents the Colors and the Delavan-Darien High School Choir performs the National Anthem. Shotgun start is at 10:00 a.m. sharp.

On the Course

The format is a scramble (18 holes, which is the right number for a July day in southern Wisconsin when you have an All-American lunch waiting at the turn). On-course beverages and sponsor sip stations run throughout. Contests for Longest Drive (Hole #5, men and women competing separately), Longest Putt, and Closest to Pin on Hole #2 are live from the moment the shotgun fires.

Afternoon

The All-American lunch, burgers, brats, and hotdogs, opens at 11:00 a.m. at the Clubhouse. Around 2:00 p.m., prizes get awarded, the cash bar opens, and the awards ceremony closes out the day. The winning foursome takes home golf for two with cart, a Majestic Oaks hat, and a sleeve of balls per player. Most Patriotically Dressed wins dinner for two at 1878 on the Lake (which, if you’ve eaten there, is a prize worth dressing for).

What’s in Your Registration Fee

One entry covers: continental breakfast, 18 holes with scramble scoring, on-course beverages and sip stations, the All-American lunch, access to all on-course contests and prizes, the silent auction and raffle, and a direct contribution to Folds of Honor. The cash bar is separate; plan accordingly.

How to Register

  1. $450 per team of 4
  2. $250 per team of 2 (you’ll be paired with others to round out a foursome)
  3. $125 per individual

Online registration closes June 28 (tomorrow). In-person registration remains open at the Majestic Oaks Pro Shop through June 28 as well. Day-of registration is available at the Pro Shop if spots remain, but spots are limited and this is not the kind of event where the day-of line moves quickly.

One More Thing: Stay the Night

Golf participants receive 25% off Best Available Rate at Lake Lawn Resort with code OFOH25, valid for June 30 and July 1. If you’re driving in for the tournament, it is worth asking whether the drive home is actually how you want to end the day.

Register now. Online closes tomorrow.
