Lake Lawn Resort Featured on 620 WTMJ’s “WTMJ Outdoors”
June 17, 2026

Wisconsin’s legendary lakefront resort made a splash on statewide radio this summer.
Brandon McConnell, Corporate Executive at Lake Lawn Resort, joined host Steve Scaffidi on 620 WTMJ’s WTMJ Outdoors this June to talk about what’s happening on the shores of Delavan Lake. Scaffidi, a self-described 40-year guest of the resort (both personal and corporate), didn’t need much convincing; the conversation moved quickly from nostalgia to the full picture of a summer season that has a lot going on.
Close to Home, Far from Ordinary
The geography alone makes a compelling case. Lake Lawn sits less than an hour from Milwaukee’s airport and just over an hour from O’Hare, easy-on, easy-off the highway, and reachable by car, boat, or the resort’s private airstrip. Scaffidi put it plainly: you get off the highway, and it’s right there in front of you. McConnell pointed to what that proximity actually means in practical terms: the amenities that typically send people hunting for flights and passports (full-service spa, waterfront dining, championship golf, boats on the lake) are all sitting on one 250-acre property in southern Wisconsin.
The resort is closing in on 150 years of continuous operation, and the property just completed a multi-million dollar renovation of all its guest rooms and public spaces. Fifteen different room and suite configurations (from standard kings to specialized lofts) mean the property works equally well for a multigenerational family stay or a weekend away for two.
Majestic Oaks Golf Course
Scaffidi golfed Majestic Oaks last summer and said the mature trees and lake vistas alone are worth the trip. McConnell talked about the course’s Family Golf Night promotion, which brings the per-person cost down to $20 and includes cart, clubs, a hot dog or brat, chips, a soda, and a candy. The underlying point is genuine: the resort takes the advancement of golf seriously, particularly among younger players, and a lakefront course at that price point is a real expression of that commitment.
1878 on the Lake
Scaffidi had lunch at 1878 on the Lake with McConnell before the broadcast. The restaurant serves three meals a day, offers patio seating directly on the shoreline, hosts Sunday brunches and holiday dinners, and recently won People’s Choice at the local Geneva Lakes Burger Throwdown. McConnell was clear that “signature dining” at 1878 doesn’t mean stuffy; the menu runs from that award-winning burger to steaks, chops, seafood, and a walleye piccata that came up more than once in the conversation.
A Summer Full of Events
Lake Lawn is a proud sponsor of Delavan’s America 250th anniversary celebrations this summer, and several of those events are happening on-property. A few highlights from the conversation:
- Vineyard Voyages wine dinners aboard the resort’s 76-foot double-decker tour boat, with bourbon dinners scheduled for later in the season
- Fireworks on June 27th, open to the public (no resort stay required), with DJs, glow parties, and direct lakefront views
- Frank Lloyd Wright boat tours showcasing five Wright-designed homes visible from Delavan Lake
- Free public boat and kayak tours on the water
- A Folds of Honor golf tournament in July
- Senior Day every Wednesday for guests 65 and older, with 20% off overnight rooms, dining at any of the resort’s five food and beverage outlets, Calladora Spa, Majestic Oaks Golf, and retail
